We were never going to be the same.

He wasn’t out of surgery yet but I was able to sit in the waiting room. A nurse had come and assured me when they went in he was completely functional and it was a very minor procedure. Keegan held my hand the whole night in the waiting room. When the doctor finally came out he had a very stern and emotionless expression on his face. I tried to force myself to believe it wasn’t true but there was no way for me to do that. Paul was never going to be the same.
